It’s hard to express in words just how grateful I am to Andrew for all the lessons and all the guidance.

I wouldn’t be where I am today were it not for Andrew never giving up on me, and pushing to get the very best out of me. I couldn’t have hoped for a better teacher, or a better friend …

Andrew Rocks!

Andrew’s consistently high results speak volumes for the quality of training. The step change in my daughters piano playing was a direct result of Andrew’s inspirational teaching and huge experience. He teaches the importance of broader musical knowledge and understanding, not just purely focusing on grades.
We feel very fortunate to have Andrew as our children’s music teacher.

The Young Pianodao Scheme is for young people who commit to:

  • listening to good music regularly
  • daily practice (minimum 30 minutes, aiming for 60 minutes)
  • a enthusiasm to performing and sharing music
  • consistent lesson attendance
  • lessons at the studio whenever possible (and online when not)

Students enrolled in the scheme enjoy a musically rich, fast-track approach, following a comprehensive programme of study which largely bypasses grade exams.

They are however advised to take a Grade 8 exam when ready, and earlier grades may be recommended at the teacher’s discretion and where mutually agreed. The Young Pianodao Scheme is also suitable for students preparing for auditions, music college or specialist school entry, or diploma exams.

Andrew has taught both my children piano for more than 5 years with outstanding results. He inspires a passion and motivation along with a strong sense of discipline.

As a family we find Andrew friendly and engaging and more importantly sparks an imagination with the kids looking for new material to play…Classical to Adele!

With Andrew there isn’t a written rule. He will always do the best for your child.

Alexia Welham, Parent

Andrew has taught my 11 year old son for the past two years. He is the teacher’s teacher and he has improved my son’s playing by an order of magnitude. He lessons are always well prepared and relevant and he has given my son the opportunity to play at several public performances.

I cannot recommend Andrew highly enough. If he can find a space in his busy schedule to give lessons for anyone you know, they will be very fortunate in securing the services of an outstanding teacher.

Making an Application

The Young Pianodao Scheme can only be offered to very limited numbers, following an initial meeting.

If the student is able to, they should come prepared to play one or more pieces and talk to Andrew about their favourite music. This will help him assess the current level of the student and their suitability for the scheme.

The Young Pianodao Scheme operates under the same terms and conditions as all Andrew’s teaching. For full details of Studio Policies and a Registration Form please download the Registration & Welcome Pack here.
